Wouterlood and colleagues publish in The Journal of Neuroscience the connectivity between basal forebrain and medial prefrontal cortex in mice

In the last issue of the Journal of Neuroscience of 2014, Wouterlood and colleagues describe the basal forebrain cholinergic innervation of the medial prefrontal cortex in mice. The authors showed using stereology that there is a frontocaudal organisation of the cholinergic systems in which distinct mPFC regions are targeted depending on the location of the cholinergic neurons in the basal forebrain.
